Dr. Pat Murphy wants his patients to feel like family when they visit for dental care. While designing his Maryville office, he went to great lengths to make it a welcoming, comfortable space. Dr. Murphy adheres to the highest standards of patient care. He is thrilled to build his practice in his hometown, and he would be delighted to discuss your individual dental wants, needs and concerns with you. Dr. Murphy’s goal is to make recommendations that allow you to achieve the best possible dental health and treatment outcome.

Licensed as a general dentist, Dr. Murphy is excited to provide preventative and restorative dental care for patients of all ages. He particularly enjoys working with dental implants and patients whose smiles can be restored using Invisalign®. “I really enjoy the opportunity to restore a patient’s smile who perhaps hasn’t been to the dentist in a while. The contrast of before and after treatment is always amazing to see,” Dr. Murphy has shared.

Education

After graduating from Metro East Lutheran High School in Edwardsville, Illinois, Dr. Murphy attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where he received his Bachelor of Science in biology in 2010. He attended dental school at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, Illinois. In 2015, he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.

Continuing Education

In 2015, Dr. Murphy traveled to Oregon to attend a two-day, hands-on continuing education course on implant dentistry. Dental implants, which serve as a replacement for a natural tooth root, can be used to restore missing teeth or support a bridge or dentures. That same year Dr. Murphy attended a two day seminar on alternative sleep apnea treatments. In many cases, patients treated with a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device find the machine and its associated mask to be uncomfortable and cumbersome, and they may ultimately elect to discontinue use. An alternative treatment is an oral appliance crafted by a dentist, which can improve airflow while sleeping without the need for a noisy machine or restrictive mask.

In 2016, Dr. Murphy completed a one-day sleep apnea continuing education course, and he has signed up to complete a one-day course on efficient root canal treatment and a one-day course on full-mouth restoration before year’s end.
